From the book
Recovery can bring meaningful change.
Recovery often unfolds through ordinary moments: noticing a reaction sooner, trusting a boundary, asking for help, or feeling more present in your own life.
Recovery may begin to change everyday moments.
- more space between a feeling and the action that follows it;
- more compassion for the ways you once survived;
- a clearer sense of what belongs to you and what belongs to others;
- greater trust in your own voice, boundaries and choices;
- relationships that allow honesty, repair and room to breathe;
- moments of rest, connection or meaning that you can receive.
Your pace remains your own.
Some changes may come slowly, disappear for a time and return later. Recovery can still be real when it follows an uneven path or remains private.
Chapter 26 of Survivors Anonymous explores these promises in their full context.
